May 2026 Update

Pila Energy

🔋 Ramping Up for Deliveries

It's been a few weeks since our last blog update. Why? We've been heads-down on this last stretch: buttoning up logistics, polishing software, and refining onboarding so your first day with Pila is as simple as plugging it in.

Here's where things stand: we're moving out of early manufacturing mode and into ramping up deliveries.

We've been out filming with the team at Telo Trucks for a delivery sneak peek — coming soon! From here, deliveries roll out through the summer.

Many of you have waited patiently for this moment. We're almost there — and you're going to love it!

📦 Lock in your summer delivery

If you haven't finalized your reservation yet, now's the moment. Finalizing your configuration — colors, accessories, and how many batteries — lets us lock in your delivery window this summer and keeps everything on track for you.

👉 Finalize your reservation: https://www.pilaenergy.com/pages/finalize-reservation

Not sure what your setup should look like? Our new configurator on the website walks you through building your perfect Pila system, start to finish.

Demand has been incredible – Thank you for that! Most reservation holders are looking at mid-June through August, with newer orders shipping around September.

🏭 Mass production is underway!

Our team spent the month with our manufacturing partners, visiting suppliers up and down the supply chain to oversee our early mass production runs. A first large-scale build is where you find out what it really takes to make something. One example: when a critical component went missing in transit and put the whole timeline at risk, the team chased it down, located it, and got it on a flight from the Netherlands to our line to keep the build on schedule. That's the kind of effort going into every Pila.

Behind the scenes, testing and rigorous compliance work continues — the reviews and reports that confirm Pila meets all of the compliance bars (required and elective) and is good to go in your home. Everything's tracking on schedule.

We've also been working closely with our US-based logistics partners, putting everything in place to send Pila to all 50 states in the coming weeks as deliveries ramp up.

💻 What the Pila team's been building

As we've expanded pilot testing, the software has come a long way these past weeks following real user feedback, and most of it is aimed squarely at your everyday experience:

  • Multi-battery coordination over the Mesh — add a second, third, fourth Pila and it joins the system automatically. No complex reconfiguring or messing with Wi-Fi passwords.
  • Enphase solar pairing — Pila finds your system in a few taps and charges from extra solar that would otherwise be sent back to the grid.
  • Home Assistant integration — for those of you who like to tinker and automate.
  • Energy insights in the app — your live backup time, usage trends for the appliances you care about, and an early look at your Fridge Score.

Mesh-enabled coordination in action! Instantly synchronizing battery control strategies across multiple Pila batteries.

This month we completed a feature sprint to pair Pila with Enphase solar (the #1 solar inverter system in the US). In a few clicks, Pila automatically discovers the Enphase system, and all Pila batteries coordinate charging from extra solar that would otherwise be exported to the grid.

🏆 Two more design honors

  • Red Dot Design Award — added to our recent iF Design Award win, two of the most rigorous international industrial design honors in the same year
  • CleanTech Breakthrough: EMS Innovation of the Year — recognition for Pila's distributed approach to home energy management

👥 The team is growing

To meet this moment, we've been building out the team — excited to be growing across Operations, Marketing, and Software this past month alone.

🌉 Great to see you at SF Climate Week

We had a wonderful week sharing Pila in person — and it was so great to see so many of our early customers there. Good company, too, sharing the floor with friends at Impulse, SPAN, Peninsula Clean Energy, and others building toward a smarter energy future from different angles.

A bit of fun for the team: a Pila-powered mobile keggerator made an appearance... it performed admirably 🍻

🤝 On the partnership front

Last month we joined PG&E at the ribbon cutting for their PowerHouse, an all-electric demonstration home in San Ramon CA, alongside others building toward the future of home energy. It's the kind of moment that opens doors with collaborators like PG&E — to expand what Pila can do and get resilient power to more people. Renters especially: California has one of the highest rentership rates in the country, and a plug-in battery that needs no rewiring is one of the few backup options actually built for them. More partnership news to come.
